Me + You + Family

What can you expect from me? You can expect great communication, a fun session with your family, and images that will melt your heart.

But….I'm going to be honest with you - I actually have no idea what kind of images we are going to capture during your session. We will plan the details of your session, like the location, the timing, and your wardrobe. We’ll talk about how to help your kids enjoy the session and what to expect in terms of prompts and posing. But the truth is, every session is unique, and the images we capture will represent your family as it is right now.

This is my goal, actually. Because you are not my primary client: your kids are. You'll be passing down prints and photo books from our session to your kids (and their kids) to rummage through and remember and retell the stories about their growing-up years, about their mom and dad, about their siblings, and about what life was like "back then."

So while I’m certain we will get a lot of laughter and love, we'll might also get some tears or angry looks. But that's ok....because to me, real is always better than perfect. And when you look back, you will treasure every image you have of this time.

A few FAQs

  1. When should we book a session? For newborn sessions, feel free to book anytime during your pregnancy - I’ll keep your due date in my calendar and we’ll schedule your exact date while you are recovering in the hospital. For maternity sessions, the ideal time for the session is between 28-34 weeks. If you are looking for a family session simply get in touch and we will find a time that works.

  2. What should we wear? I always suggest to wear neutrals: cream, grey, blue, brown. Avoid bright colors except for accent pieces. Newborns can be in a swaddles or a onsie. Once you book your session I’ll send a more extensive “What to Wear” guide and you can send me pictures of your outfits for feedback.

  3. OK. But my kids are pretty crazy. Got it. No really, I get it! You see these four little ones to the right? They are mine. The youngest is just starting elementary school and the oldest is in high school. It is really unlikely that there is something that will happen that will throw me off my game. But just to be sure, part of my process is getting to know you and your family a bit so that we can be prepared. I may bring a football, a prize bag, noise makers, or other tricks to keep older kids engaged and happy. For newborns, I have some mad baby-wrapping skills and my shush shushes pretty much any baby. So yes, you are right, things may get hairy, but trust me…I have 15 years of experience with newborns, babies, kids, and (now) teens!

  4. What’s in your camera bag? I keep it simple....

    • Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 lens

    • Nikkor 24mm f/1.8 lens

    • Sigma Art 70-200 f/2.8 lens (sometimes…)
